Planning

Problem/Goal

Students are tasked with creating an app using Swift, but they don’t have any tool to support their brainstorming process.

Objective

Create a worksheet that guides students through brainstorming ideas and helps them bring those ideas to life through an app concept prototype.

Stakeholders

Students and facilitators at the MATTER Career Readiness Institute (MCRI).

Target Audience

Students at the MCRI who are progressing in their Swift coding journey.

Execution

Design Process
The inspiration for this worksheet came while my students were brainstorming ideas for their own Swift apps. I explored several Canva templates to gather ideas from other brainstorming worksheets, then combined key elements from those designs into a full-fledged worksheet that guides students from initial planning all the way to a clear app concept.
Reflection

Canva ended up being the perfect tool to address a real need my students were facing at the MCRI. After creating the worksheet, I shared it with my facilitators, who then had students complete it. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive—students found that the worksheet helped them stay focused during brainstorming and provided a more structured way to generate ideas, rather than trying to come up with something on the fly.
