Human-centered design for tech-powered learning.
Adobe Illustrator
The design process that went into creating the MATTER Career Readiness Institute (MCRI) logo.

Planning
Problem/Goal
The MCRI doesn’t currently have a logo, and I wanted to create one that captures what we do in a simple, visually clear way.
Objective
Use Illustrator to create a professional logo that incorporates proper branding colors and results in a simple, recognizable design.
Stakeholders
MCRI facilitators and staff, students, and program partners.
Target Audience
MCRI facilitators and staff, students, program partners, and portfolio viewers.
Execution
Design Process
When creating the design, I wanted to manipulate the letters MCRI to resemble a graduation cap. As I iterated on the concept, I incorporated branded colors—Jamf blue for the cap and MATTER orange for the tassel—to make the design stand out. Illustrator made it easy to adjust the letter shapes and bring my vision to life.
Reflection
This was the first time I had the opportunity to create a design using vectors. Being able to manipulate letters without any pixelation was a welcome experience, and I enjoyed it so much that I later used Illustrator again to create my personal brand logo featured in the header of this portfolio.
